: All students who have grown up in Oregon and graduated from an Oregon high school pay in-state tuition, regardless of their documentation status.
Great kids lose an education. Many students have been attending school in Oregon for years but are priced out of college after graduation because they don’t qualify for in-state tuition.
Students are punished for choices they didn’t make. The students Tuition Equity applies to were brought to America as children and had no control over their documentation.
It makes Oregon uncompetitive. The rest of the west coast (and 9 other states) have Tuition Equity and are able to keep educated, top talent in their states, while Oregon can’t.
Allow students who have gone to an Oregon high school and graduated, been admitted to an Oregon university and are actively working toward U.S. citizenship to pay in-state tuition.
